Attending training and presentations can equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate health and safety challenges throughout your program.

Scheduled Training and Presentations

We regularly schedule general training and presentations throughout the year. To register for these events, select the desired event and follow the registration link. Each event, facilitated by experienced OGHS team members, covers essential health and safety topics.

Supporting Student Mental Health

Join us on Zoom to learn practical measures to prepare for and anticipate mental health challenges. This session is for all members of the Duke community.

Experts from the OGHS team will cover a range of topics, including the causes of mental health challenges and ways to promote a healthy and positive environment for students. You will also learn to recognize the signs of a mental health challenge and effective interventions to use.

Navigating Group Dynamics

This Zoom session will provide valuable insights into how to prepare for changing group dynamics during program travel and build essential skills for conflict resolution when group dynamics turn sour.

This training will help you understand the complex nature of group dynamics and provide you with practical strategies to manage them effectively. Whether planning an overseas study program or a service-learning project, this training will equip you with the tools to ensure a positive experience for all involved.

Participation Agreements 101

This webinar will help you understand participation agreements and their importance in ensuring the safety and well-being of program participants.

During this webinar, you will learn the essential information that participation agreements must include. You will also gain insight into effective practices for distributing participation agreements to program participants.

Program Emergency Preparedness

Yes, all training events and presentations are free of charge.

All Duke students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend scheduled training and presentations. Custom training events are reserved only for the participants designated by the requesting department.

The length of each event varies depending on the topic and format. Generally, training events last between 1-2 hours.
